As more and more information comes out about Nidal Hassan, it becomes very obvious that this was a tragedy waiting to happen and that those above Hassan knew he was a problem and failed to act out of fear of being considered intolerant of his Muslim faith. General Casey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that he is more worried that the diversity of the military will be harmed than another incident like this will occur. Excuse me GENERAL, but don’t you wear a UNIFORM? It’s called a UNIFORM because DIVERSITY ISN’T the purpose of the military, UNIFORMITY is.  While I freely admit that we have many wonderful servicemembers who are Muslim, please do not try to tell me that having radical Islamic jihadists in uniform is beneficial to this country.  That would be like enlisting the Wehrmacht into Ridgeway’s 82nd Airborne, or the Lutwaffe into the 8th Air Corps during WWII. I understand that this is a tough battlefield we now face, and knowing who your enemy is can be difficult, but this guy was on EVERYONE’S radar as being militant in his religious beliefs and glorified and supporting our enemies. He wasn’t even a good psychiatrist by all accounts, but was promoted to Major and then sent to another installation with the idea that other psychiatrists would pick up the slack for his poor work habits.  Where can I sign up for that job? Where can I sign up for a job where I can be a mediocre slacker, be belligerant,  get promoted to a position earning over $80,000 a year and then transferred to a location where someone else will be there to pick up the work that I don’t finish because of bad work habits?

He was even on the FBI watch list for statements on a website and emails with an Al Quaeda supporting Imam that had lead the Mosque that two of the 9/11 highjackers had attended. It has also come out that Hassan had attended the  Falls Church, Va mosque at the same time as the 9/11 highjackers.  I have to ask how this guy got the security clearance necessary to be promoted to Major? The Imam (who was born in the US) has gone to Yemen where he was jailed, then released and has since disappeared. The Yemenis may not know where he is, but he is still able to issue a statement on his webpage commending Hassan on his terrorist attack.
